Our most recent project in partnership with the Defence Force Welfare Association is the sponsorship of an Assistance Dogs through Defence Community Dogs (DCD). DCD provide highly trained Assistance Dogs to serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force Members.. DCD trains Assistance Dogs to serve Australian Defence Force veterans who need physical and emotional support to deal with injuries and illnesses including Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Upon graduating our sponsored dog, will be allocated to a Royal Australian Air Force Veteran who needs physical and emotional support.

Ad Astra Foundation Ltd is leading a collaboration with DVA NSW, NSW Premiers Department, RSL NSW and other ESOs, Veteran Support Centres (VSC), Defence and relevant Commonwealth agencies in developing a single national contact point for ADF Veterans and their families providing a rapid response and halfway housing where the following can be addressed:
This single national contact point will provide a local point of contact for Veterans seeking assistance and have sufficient understanding of welfare and compensation advocacy to be able to link the client with the most appropriate Advocate or ESO.
Ad Astra Foundation Ltd has started a transition support program that is designed to complement existing Defence Transition services. The program provides an Australia wide network of ex service personnel already working in different and varied civilian jobs and enterprises to coach and assist Veterans make the transition to civilian employment. Coaches will be available to offer one on one guidance and advice to ex ADF personnel to help them navigate the regulatory, cultural and human factor differences in the civilian work environment.
