Joe ‘Vinny’ Iervasi, AM CSC
I had the incredible honour of being a part of the Royal Australian Air Force for 37 years, from 1985 until my retirement in 2022. Throughout my career, I had the privilege of serving as a fighter pilot in Australia, as well as on exchange with the Royal Air Force. Along the way, I took on various challenging roles, including numerous staff appointments, and eventually had the opportunity to command at different levels - from unit, wing, and group, all the way to the prestigious position of Air Commander Australia. Even after retiring from active duty, my passion for aviation and strategic expertise continues to be in high demand. I now dedicate my time as a principal consultant and strategic adviser to both private companies and Defence entities. Additionally, I proudly serve as a senior mentor in the RAAF reserve and hold the esteemed position of Vice President of the RAAF Association NSW. When I'm not busy with my professional commitments, you can find me indulging in my hobbies. I enjoy immersing myself in amateur landscaping, cherishing the joys of being a novice grandparent, channelling my inner Neil Diamond as a practicing impersonator, and of course, being an avid cricket fan.
